Garmin Striker 4DV issues

Hi everyone.
I need some help sorting out some electronics during this frustrating lock down period please. I bought a new Garmin which was professionally installed on my last RIB. I removed it and fitted to my current rib. However, when I turn it on, the display lights up momentarily and then turns off. There is continuous power as the radio on the boat still plays.
Any ideas please?

Garmin striker

You will probably find that the internal battery has failed
A simple job to do if you have soldering kit.
I have an old Garmin GPS map 176c it happened to that, it has 3v internal button battery in it when tested it was down to 1/2 volt a cheep repair
@£ 1.98.

You will need to take it apart to find out, it will look like a large watch battery with
a number on it like CR 2032

Hi Phillip
I have finally got round to opening up my fishfinder. I've drawn a blank I'm afraid - no sign of a battery. Thanks anyway. C

Fully charge boat battery with a battery charger & see if that makes any difference, many electrical devices have voltage level detection & automatically shut off if it's below a certain voltage.
Modern cars can throw a complete wobbly if the battery isn't tip top.

I thought they obtained date/time data from the satellites when the unit powers up.

Yes, no worries. Maybe it does not need to store date and time as it is just a fishfinder.

Does this cover yours?
https://support.garmin.com/en-GB/?pa...01&tab=manuals
Go into online owner's manual, then into 'Appendix'.
"My device does not turn on
Push the power cable all the way into the back of the device.
Even if the cable seems to be connected, you should push firmly so that it is fully seated.

Make sure the power source is generating power.
You can check this several ways. For example, you can check whether other devices powered by the source are functioning.

Check the fuse in the power cable.
The fuse should be located in a holder that is part of the red wire of the power cable. Check that the proper size fuse is installed. Refer to the label on the cable or the installation instructions for the exact fuse size needed. Check the fuse to make sure there is still a connection inside of the fuse. You can test the fuse using a multimeter. If the fuse is good, the multimeter reads 0 ohm.

Check to make sure the device is receiving at least 10 Vdc, but 12 Vdc is recommended.
To check the voltage, measure the female power and ground sockets of the power cable for DC voltage. If the voltage is less than 10 Vdc, the device will not turn on."

Fully charge the boat battery with a battery charger. Or if the boat isn't kept at home or nearby & you have a spare battery fully charge the spare battery with a battery charger & try that.
Also check any connections that you or another installer are in good order & the wiring is clean & making full contact.
Don't assume a brand new battery is fully charged.
