Mariner engine details

Hi - I'm returning to boating aftermany years and have a Mariner 40Hp on my rib. I'd like to give it a service - it works well but want to check the gears and replace the impeller and look at the prop set up etc. But I don't know how old it is or where to find manuals. Can anyone help me please?

The numbers are 40M
6E9 S 006504

I've tried finding the numbers to no avail so any help would be appreciated

Hello & welcome. Looks like a 1985 short shaft model. CD manuals are available for peanuts on eBay. Paperback manuals would be via your local dealer.

It's a Yamaha built (in Japan) engine so parts are quite readily available.
