Mariner 3.3 HP 2 Stroke

Hi
removed lower unit to replace impeller (and change gear oil) noticed there is no water hose connecting the water pump with the powerhead.
is this possible? no hose needed or is the hose missing. outboard was on a stand in a workshop untouched for 4 years.
I am so tempted to get a hose sized up and to fit it but i am not sure if someone lost the hose or if the design is without hose.
(Oh. I broke the two bolts securing the lower unit but removed them already)

any feedback is appreciated. even better if there is a drawing somewhere
Thanks

With the lower unit off - there should be a copper/brass pick up tube in the mid-section. This connects with the water-pump when the whole things goes back together.

See parts guides here for Mercury/Mariner. https://www.boats.net/catalog/mercury/outboard/3-3hp

It would normally have a tube, something like this (part 26 below). https://shop.chastheboat.co.uk/products/q32-95359

Check your model and serial to verify which parts are required though. You can find all the part numbers etc over here.

It must have a pick tube and was connected correctly to the impeller housing because in your video on the other thread it is pumping water, not great but still pumping
