Flooding 4hp Yamaha

Can anyone shed any light on why my 4HP Yamaha is flooding (with petrol) so often?

It happens usually when it has been running briefly, usually when starting - it just dies - and then I find it's flooded. Today, however, it happened after it had been running for 10-15 minutes, just as I throttled down and tilted up the engine slightly to run onto the beach. The engine was warm, running happily, fuel tap and vents were OK, and the choke was right in.

Any clues? Or is it yet another little quirk of the engine that I'll have to get used to, like when if you look at it a bit funny, and it decides to fill the cylinder head with oil......

thinkin that has a built in gas tank, sounds like you got some dirt in thare,
flush it out, change the filter, clean the needle and seat, check the seal on the cap, some times when the seal gets old in the cap, chunks can get in the tank.

Thanks - I'll strip and clean it and see if that it sorts out.

Cheers,
