Affectionately know as 'Merlin'
Boat served on-board fisheries patrol vessel HMS Severn , it spent most of its time mounted at the stern of vessel adjacent to a Merlin helicopter , hence her name.
HMS Servern travelled around the world and was a used for fishery protection. Merlin used for intercepting other vessel and as a life boat for the HMS Servern. Merlin is probably the most travelled rib in the UK.
This is a big rib in a small rib shoes. Very capable boat. Been out on force 8 waves and she absolutely loved it. This is a go anywhere boat. Yes she might not win and beauty competitions but like a land rover she is built to last and be unstoppable
She is finished in naval battleship grey , to help camouflage to her surroundings.
These boats were built to be literally bulletproof. Everything about this boat it built to last and is made of the highest quality material available.
The helm is higher than usual for comfort and performance in rough seas and is offset to allow crew to move around with there weapons. The fibreglass throughout Merlin is double thick and reinforced in the right areas with 316 marine stainless steel plate.,
The hull is a semi submersible, meaning that when stationery the hull fills with rough a 1 ton of water to aid in stability at slow speed and when loading and unloading, but when accelerating the water Is dumped at the stern and the boat then it flys along reaching speeds of 40knots!
Merlin was bought from the navy in 2012
and retrofitted on to a new American made snipe trailer and fitted with a brand new old stock 2006 Tohatsu 90hp 2stroke . Engine has done last than 100 hrs. Serviced ast the start of the season (April)waterpump. Sparkplug, gearbox oil etc.
Trailer is ready to go and boat sits on bunks so less maintenance and easier launching and recovery.
Boat is fitted with Garmin fish finder, icom vhf radio (recently come back from icom for a full service and tune), x2 25l quicksilver fuel tanks.
