Fuel proof/resistant cable Gland.

Not for the RIB, but another project I’m working on intermittently at the moment.

I’m installing an in-tank pump in the bottom of a petrol fuel tank, but because of the size and shape available I’m going to have to build my own Bracket/access plate to bolt the assembly in the bottom of the tank.

The inherent issue with this is getting the power supply cables back out of the tank through the access plate, bearing in mind whatever I use will be permanently immersed in Petrol on one side.

All the car and motorcycle ones I’ve seen use a moulded in gland of one sort or another, and one option would be to modify the plate around one of these, but I’ll need to weld close by and will limit my options.

Does anyone know of a small fuel proof cable gland that can be used safely in the bottom of a fuel tank?

Thanks

Nasher.

Have you asked index marine if they have anything suitable? As they make their own products they'd be in a good position to help.

An alternative which may or may not be any easier: a 2 pin plug and socket with a bulkhead fitting? If you can find a socket thats up to the job then all you'd need is a nitrile or viton washer/bonded seal between the tank wall and the socket. Would help with tank removal etc as well.

Just a thought...

Thanks Martini.

I'm actually going to need a tail hanging off the bottom of the tank to a connector, as the bottom of the tank won't be very aeasy to get to.

I've tried a few different places but not Index, I'll give them a go.
