Scotch or the South west, I aint too fussed. Were gonna have to travel either way, which is why I think the Solent is a non starter. Without risk of upsetting my south coast friends I think it would be good to get out to other parts of the country. I would love to help organise something, but it just aint practical driving 44t of artic allday. However if job prospects change in the near future then im up for it.

I bought a boat that I could tow anywhere, so lets get it on

Martin

Here's the 2006 calendar - splashed from Boatmad (sorry Adam!) - I realise it isn't a priority to miss the race weekends but if it does it means there's more chance of us coming!

I will, but I need to know what the question is! Bear in mind it's a poll (ie one topic) not a questionnaire.

How about this for a suggestion:

Where do you want the "RIBnet conference" to be?

- South Wales
- Scotland
- both
- somewhere else
- not interested

If that would do the job then I'll set it up as a poll.

John

I think when is also important (ish). Anyone else want a poll on a poll? It's a shame it's not Lymington - I'd be all over it like a rash.

Still, I think a straight vote is fair - majority rules.

The very best a poll could manage would be to give an indication of what some people might want.

The majority doesn't rule in this case. The person who sticks their hand up and offers to get something together rules!

John

While loads of stuff happens in the Solent area and most peeps (us too) would like a change of venue... if nothing can be got together in SWales or Inverkip we'd be happy to get a group together to organise it in the Solent.

My boat will be located in the Solent in May and June and transported begin of July to Scotland (Thurso to be exact) so count me in if something is planned in the area..........

The best would be for you to look up threads of the Plymouth in 2003 and Cowes 2004 RibNet conferences. This will give you some idea what its all about. Perhaps the word CONFERENCE is misleading as we do not sit in a room and discuss ribs & ribbing all day round. You could say it is a gathering of people who share the same passion. The days are spent on the water hence the involvment of local ribsters who know the area and can organise cruises, events, say even a treasure hunt ect. In the evening good food and drink perhaps in the evening a meet with some interesting person who can share some good stories like a local RNLI lifeguard or Coastguard perhaps a lighthouse keeper if such is still around, ect ect ect
Ther organiser should not book accomodation only provide details and each participant / group make their own arrangements

The evening meals should be for all together in the same restaurant

Anybody got any other suggestions?

Right o' ,
Now Xmas is oot the road, Is there still interst in coming to Inverkip? If so can we get a rough count of numbers, both people and boats.
I was thinking either the weekend of the 17/18 or 24/25 June. Once we can see how many are interested I can then check locally to see that nothing else is on, for avalability of accomodation, eating and meeting places.
Cheers
Andy

I would be up for Inverkip the latter weekend i.e. 24/25 as it would fit us well on our way to Thurso (north of Scotland)

3 - 4 persons

Either weekend for me...

...currently free either weekend and provided the "programme" was likely to be suitable for a wee 4m boat then I would be there (probably with the wife).

Cheers,

NEIL

We're in Pwhelli, North Wales the first weekend, the second date is free, but we have to travel to Jon Brookes territory the weekend after - Ramsgate! It would be a bit too much travelling for us really!
