We have a saying for foreigners who come over here then start moaning about it
And you need to clear customs in St. Helier or Gorey before you can land at the Minkies anyway

'kin 'eck! I didn't quite mean to spark such a response. I understand how vulnerable you feel Matt now that we have no Navy to defend us any more the French may come and seize them at any minute!
Seriously though, if we're prepared to go that far I think there are nicer places eg French coast (potentially anywhere, they are all nice), even Brehat etc etc.
You may not have appreciated it at the time, but here is my map of potential destinations. I will add the Minquiers and St. Malo and St. Quay.
(obviously not from gotchidad)

Can we book in at that Disney style hotel on Brecqhou for lunch?
With less than 2 weeks to go maybe we need to think more seriously about how long to stay and where to visit,
Oh g*d...I may need to buy a tent unless the B&B's have spaces

Might be able to help you on that if you're really struggling.

The plan to see the sheep racing on Sark involved camping, so a tent might not be all bad.
I checked on your reservation at the hotel here, which is sound, but if you over run etc we have a capacious sofa.

Oww thanks guys, I'm a bit limited for space when it comes to the tent, but could dry bag it & strap in on the seat. Let's firm some plans first before I come begging
Are we still planing to leave the SWM @ 11am?
Paul

Hi Paul
Based on the current list, it looks like it might be just us and you from RIBnet - we've not heard from Andre or Mark241 lately so we'll probably aim at going Friday with you rather than on Saturday.
11.00 in Allum Bay still seems like a good plan.
Regarding making more definite plans for accommodation for the following week - I'm guessing that if it's good weather you'll struggle to find a late availability B&B wherever we go as the summer holidays will have started - and if it's bad weather we'll all still be in the Solent!
We're planning on camping anyway (or sleeping on the boat if we're in a marina) so can be flexible on what the plans are for the week.
Trev

Thought you might say that. Unfortunately even Martini II is not large enough to support the three loads of GR7s, GR9s, Merlins, Sea Kings and Wildcats (Ex Lynx)

Agreed, so much to do, so little time. Rough plans need to be made although I would imagine that finalisation will occur in the Divers the night before!

I didn't realise that had become a plan although I guess it is a good idea. Sample the local culture and all that!! It runs over the weekend, so we may need to go Saturday evening? Not sure what time it finishes on the Sunday. I will check.

I don't think it'll be quite that bad, I don't remember it being so impossible last year? But I certainly wouldn't bank on it that's for sure!
Anyway, I am doing my VHF SRC on Saturday, so I will be fully qualified by the 22nd (I hope!!)

It was only a suggestion, made earlier in the thread. There are races on both days and I had asked if traveling to Sark on Sunday (when all the weekenders are heading back) would be a nice idea.

Hi Chaps, looks like we're currently 5 boats, a couple of drop outs but still a healthy number. Happy to meet up in Alum bay at 11:00 although we've got 2 coming from Poole so will need to arrange a rendezvous point with them.
They were proposing somewhere further out. When we've agreed that we'll build it into a passage plan.
Re accommodation I think we've now got some b&b space due to the drop outs. If you pop over to SB&R and PM Cap'n Jack he'll let you know for sure as he has become co-ordinator for the B&Bs.
Can't gauge the weather yet, some forecasts have it as little wind but rain and others are showing more wind. Just have to see nearer the time I suppose. Rain not an issue as far, as I am concerned any way, but if the wind gets up we'll have to make a group decision.

Congrats on the sale Andre, shame we won't see you though
I've just heard Martini II should be getting her new powerhead fitted next week, in theory it's possible I could bring her back from Paris in time to RV with the Floptilla but we'll see how that goes...
