I see they've got the new low profile orange echomax radar reflector installed on the top of their a-frame

Can't see why they deployed the self-righting bag

Oh - its a self righting bag - thought it was a new streamlined echomax radar reflector

I think maybe it went off accidentally as they punched through a wave - or maybe they are so 'ard that they've already capsized three times and just don't want to call it a day.

Great photos - nice to see the crew has the sense to move right to the bow - prevents a flip like in the video we saw recently!!! Who needs a bow tank when you have human ballast???

Why is the self righting bag inflated? Funnily enough I have seen RIBs in the med like this as well - apparently it is some stupid law of theirs???

We usualy have 3 men on board! we have job to do (save people).

Self righting bag will open on conditions like that so we resign for that option and the bottle with air. it's all the time open.

weight is lower, boat faster!

Boat faster??? With all that drag from the wind??? And surely the airbag won't self right if it is already open - or will it??? Then again maybe it will stop it going over in the first place???

why wouldn't it self right if already inflated ??? - what happens at the point of inflation that is so critical to righting the boat ??? - a self righting bag works by putting the boat at an angle where the C of G takes over and finishes the job - i don't think it matters whether it was inflated at the point of capsize or 3 weeks ago - it still has the same buoyancy.

or am I the one missing something ???

I remember reading somewhere a long time ago that a self righting bag inflated in a special way to instigate a roll over. Then again I could be totally wrong hence the ??? I put in the post!!!
