Thanks for the info. I also want to paint the metal work black. i.e the metal framework towards the stern. In places the paint has chipped leaving bare aluminium. Im a little dubious about painting...

Yes I did 50/50 concentration, and scrubbed it into the tubes. Left for about 10 minutes, then power washed it off. The power washer was a god send - did most of the elbow grease.
