I'm trying to replace the diaphagm on an A7 valve, i've removed the nut but i still can't get the valve free. How can i get it off without breaking it? I'm quite tempted to hit it.

It had an old mariner 40 ELO on it.
The engine number was 6E9 L 452029 - I guess the L means its a long shaft?
