Thanks all,
Great to have all the opinions. The general view seems, top it up, mix it up, seal it & shove some additive in if it's going to lay a while. However, do we have any scientists out there...

I have a Selva S1400 from 1994. Just to confuse matters, I got an alloy prop for a Johnson which fits & works perfectly. Apparently they share the OMC gearbox. However Steel Developments (London) say...

Sorry to say it, but someone once told me that prop choice is a bit of a black art. I've tried various prop calc tools. The last one told me to use a 17p, however trial & error showed me that a 15p...

Here's my old Selva again!

G'day all,
I had a good weekend thrashing into some quite heavy seas. Finally, the old girl is running & planing well. Now getting +30 knots which is plenty for the boat design. Problem is, I was...

Selva probs

Pete,
Divers like food n drink too much. I'm not so small myself! Problem is, we break boats quicker than we can repair them. You guys should have seen the sea state at the Farnes (NE England)...

Selva probs

Pete,
Thanks for the advice again. I'm trying to avoid lifting the engine, not because it's difficult (I have access to full workshop facilities including a crane), but for 2 other reasons. Firstly,...

All,

Thanks for the many bits of advice. I tried the easiest thing 1st and did a bit of prop switching. I went down to a 15 from a 17 pitch. It worked!!!!

I'll give it a go & post the results.

However, I need educating (if you don't mind that is). In my very limited sense of logic, I would imagine that the further away the prop is...

Selva overrevving

Pete,

Thanks but I'm already at the lowest point. Any more & I'd have to cut down on the transom. I'll gladly do it, but I don't want to do this & find that I'm cutting away a perfectly good piece...
