Expired VHF licence?

I've discovered that my VHF license expired some time ago. It seems operators' licences no longer expire. Are the old ones tranferrable? Or do I need to spend another dull day at the training...

It's useful to see this sort of thing occasionally. Makes me think I'm not wasting my time securing properly when others don't bother!

Ahh that's brilliant info, thanks so much. Armed with that, I'll take a closer look. I don't think it's option 1 as quite a few variations of the deck were sold. Don't remember seeing any screws...

How big a job to change my 4m deck layout?

Below is a picture of what I have right now. Bench at the back, offset console in front and a coolbox which I could happily lose.

I take my two children out on it (5/6). They love it but tube...

That's exactly where it is

The winch idea would be great, but then I'd have to run power to it. I don't fancy the idea of another battery to keep conditioned.

Thanks chaps, sounds like 12mm will be easier on the hands and give a bit of margin for error.

What thickness of rope to retrieve a trailer and RIB?

The approach is obscured to the slipway I launch / retrieve from. I plan to use a pulley arrangement and heave out using my car at a right angle. What thickness of rope would you suggest for this?

The way I see it, RIBs are a bit like they motorcycles of the sea. Both have no roof and give you the full visceral experience.

How to dispose of old fuel?

I've just bought a RIB which has sat for a while (at least 6 months). I'd rather put some fresh fuel in there before I first go out.

Question is, what do I do with the 15 litres or so of old...

Sorry, I don't have a definitive answer and it sounds like you're unlikely to get one. It might be worth having a marine engineer have a proper look at it.

I'd be staggered if it couldn't take at...

Engine noise through VHF

Our VHF is perfectly audible until you start the outboard. Is this likely to be a bad earth or do I need a noise suppressor?

Is water supposed to come out of here?

Just changed impeller on 75 elpto. Telltale merilly squirting away. However water also escaping from small hole in front of the port side of the leg. Don't remember seeing that before.

Cheers
