Xs rib 550

Hi guys.

I want kindly to ask if somebody with XS550, has been experimenting with the engine height.
Mine has an opti 125XL,and the cavitation plate is align with the flat end of the pad in transom.
As you know in XS550, the finish of the V in transom is flat due to the pad.
So,the cavit. plate is align with that end.
I bought this boat from UK 1 month ago,and in the first test ride I had ,I noticed
that from 34-35knt,a feeling of unstable ride, and a sign of chine walking.
Also after the test,I found that the trim tab was it a little to the left.
Except this, the boat is superb, and especially in rough sea enviroment, with very good built quality,so I wanted to have the best set up.

Thanks in advance.

Er 125hp on a 5.5m rib?? That might be the cause!

I would look at the weight and trim f your set up, rather than drilling holes!

My XS 550, bought new in 2005 came with a max HP rating of 90hp, and I had a 90hp Opti on the back. Shortly afterwards the max rating went up to 100hp. Looking at the XS ribs web site the max recommended hp rating now is 115hp.
I never felt that mine was under powered.
Having said that from what I can see of your photos, your cav plate does look too low.

Thanks guys.

My XS 550 is 2010 year, and the manufacter has certificated with 125hp max power.
Also I believe that from 115 to 125 opti, minor diferences I can say only cosmetic things.
In the day of test I had no loads, and two on boards, with laser 2 prop 20',and not fully trimout.

So,do you think that I have to raise one hole the engine?

Thanks in advance .
Kostas.
