I been importing /selling these for good number of years, promoting them to rescue services - They are now featured in the RYA Boat Safety Book that was released - these don't affect night vision equipment or image intensifiers.

These are now part of the RNLI calling for help presentation - were added to the program 1year ago, and supplied more this year to boost the kits they use.

The Green version will be reduced to 189 inc VAT as soon as UKBA gives me my new stock!

As previously stated all RIB.Net people will get free pouch worth around 10 if they pm me, after order or email me.

My avatar might given you some hint! this is the rescue light attached to keys.

regards

Scott

I went to my local boat shop to buy some flares for my SIB and was sold a little yellow box containing nine small capsules and a little plastic "gun" to fire them with.

Not knowing anything I took the guy's word for it, that these would be alright. We won't be going offshore.

Think they are the comet type mini flare, some come with a pen type launcher I have had a few types over the years,
They go up to about 60 metres after a loud crack then the flare ignites and burns for only about 5 seconds as it comes back down usually in a gentle arc so best to fire a couple off in quick succession every couple of mins or so if needed.

Some have a very small drouge that looks like a square tea bag with a bit of string on one corner on one end to help slow down the flare,

Pen ejectors are ok but not too sure if the plastic gun type are legal in the uk even if the capsule screws or bayonet fits on the end,
I may stand corrected but think if it comes out of a barrel it's a firearm but as the whole flare capsule itself is ejected Only leaving The percussion cap behind its legal.

I ve fired some off at least 25 /30years old and everyone of them worked so they last a while ,.

They can be effective we were in our boat yard which has a 12ft wall around it ,we heard the crack first had a look out into the estuary and saw a dinghy sailer aground about 400yards away .
