I stayed at Cologin Country Cottages for the Easter hols. Pretty basic but very clean and cheap with an on site pub. The owner jim is mad about boats and has a 6 mtr rib on the moorings just down the road at Andorran Marine.
Highly recommended! Easy access to the surrounding islands, we covered over 500 sea miles in that one week alone:-)

Know that feeling....... Although a broken engine didn't help!

And I have a very similar plan!

Back to the point of the tread, forgot to mention this http://www.welcomeanchoragesscotland.com/ which has a few(!) shoreside places. It;s more for the cruising yachtsman, but a lot of the locations are hotels / B&B....... Also might give you a few hints for places to go.

Ah thanks for the reminder P.D. the dreaded midges, forgot about them wee bu**ers maybe June could be an alternative. Thanks everyone for taking the time to post your recommendations and links to various sites I must say Easdale is looking favourite at the moment for me, I will see what the rest of our party think. Please keep posting other places to visit as we have got plenty time to decide where stay. We're off to America in the morning for two weeks to get some sun so hopefully, there should be plenty info on here to look at when we get back.

Thanks,

kerny.

Kerny they weren't bad this year in early July. Actually they've not been really bad when I've been up for at least the last 3-4 years. The only time I was bothered by them anywhere this year was in Torridon (mid June) but we were pushing bikes through a bog very slowly alongside still fresh water in a period with no wind. They can't keep up with a RIB so as long as you keep moving you will be fine.

as Neil says they have not been bad for years. Even this year when they were predicting a massed attack all summer because of the snow yes snow as it acts as a blanket for them in winter, there was only two nights where there were any to speak of in tayvallich!

Kerny, for reasonably priced accommodation/camping on the Isle of mull, www.shielingholidays.co.uk there is a slip and old pier where the boats can be left afloat 50 yards from reception. There is also a great pub

Thanks Ruari, The picture of the frame tent on your link looks old, do they still make em ? also it's a bit dodgy having a bow and arrow target right next to the tent
Joking apart it looks nice, ir's just the extra cost of taking the ferry to Mull.

Yeah website is a bit dated, currently building new one. we used to have a sailing school and full kids activities hence the bow and arrow.
The plan is to bring them back next year. Lochaline to fishnish is the cheaper ferry.
We are on facebook and visit Scotlands website there's newer pics on there.
