Tubes up or Down

According to my mate, I Should I deflate my tubes whilst my rib is not in use,
I normally leave 'em about half full, whilst not using it.
Can any one recommend what is correct?
cheers.

It seems to be generally accepted that you should keep them inflated.

my tubes are inflated in these wintertimes and the boat is outside in a carport. Should it be better to deflate them?... I put also some tallow powder on it.. he's pink instead of red now.. nice view

From my own short experience I'd say keep em inflated.

I deflated my Avon SR4 and within a week seams started stressing apart and the strake started pealing away in some spots. Thats the last time I'm going to deflate the tubes all the way.

Thanks for the response all, I think I'll keep 'em puffed up all the time, (as I have been doing) as it seems it will save any future probs etc !!

As for my mate I'll tell him to keep his opinions to him self, & just worry about his grp motor boat, as it seems he dosent know much about our brill pastime of RIBBING!!!!

a friend of mine said that tallow powder keeps the pvc, rubber, hypalon flexible. When I inflate the tubes I put also some powder in my handpump. so it's also inside the tubes to avoid humidity
