Advice we give is.... Paint tubes when either 1/ tubes are approaching the twilight years and painting may squeeze a couple more seasons of use, e.g reinforcing weave is exposed, or 2/ the colour or condition of your tubes e.g. severe mould, offends you.

Will require re-painting/touching-up each season but it does go a long way - Toobcoat

I've had some good results with painting tubes, most people don't know that all the protector ribs that were sold after the Olympics were painted on the topside, I repaired a couple and repainted them, I've got a little Avon that has been painted badly, I think I'm going to do this one and I'll post some pics
I think like most things, you have to get the right product and do the right preparation

I have painted tubes on my boat. (Should be plain white) I didn't paint it and don't know how old the paint it but I've had it 3 years so far and is hold up well! Few rubbing mark but nothing major. No bubbling or anything!

I can imagine if your mooring up against other boats or pontoons often it will increase the wear. However mines holding up fine! Loads of getting in and out of the boat, some mooring use & plenty of beach landings etc & it's holding up fine!

For those of you who have painted your tubes, which brands are the best? I am considering Tuff.

Just finished painting the tubes with Veneziani Gummipaint.
Amazing stuff, it can be stretched and bent sharply without any sign of cracks.
Preparing the tubes is a lot of work, the actual painting job is less than 2 hours for two coats on a 5.60m RIB.

Picture made this morning, very low temp. so the tubes have almost no pressure. The color is "cream" or "butter", made by adding 0.5% oxide brown dye to white paint.
Part of the tubes will always be submerged. I painted that with Veneziani Gummipaint A/F but did not succeed in mixing to the exact color. That paint has so many additives the base color is grayish white, so the end product was dirty yellow

I think that looks very nice! Are the 5 stripes painted on or glued on? Or did you paint around them?

The stripes are RF welded onto the PVC tube.
I taped them over and painted around them.
