Tornado...moving production abroad.

Hi all,

Does anyone know when this is going to take place or has it already happened?

Any news would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Regards,

Tony

A collegue of mine got a 8,5 , some 4 weeks ago. This was the first china boat delivered in Norway. The hull was pretty good, but front locker, transom locker and other things that was handcraftet and not moulded had very poor finish. Guess it take some boats to get it right.

Dont know if tubes is made i china, but they looked just the same as the one produced in GB.

The boat was supposed to be delivered in june, but came in september.
No one could tell us where or what was happening to the boat in that period.

Thanks for the information Roy.

I have got a bit of vested interest with a rib in production at the moment!

Tony

I don't know why these companies do it. It's the same with foreign call centres - ok it may save some money short term but it hardly inspires customer confidence.

china!

I fear this will be a mistake, our 8.5 was excellent but frankly I bought it because of local advise and local knowledge on behalf of the builder who was excellent. Are we sure this is the case ?

Yes but only SHORT term - makes no sense at all driving your customers away. Just like whatever idiot changed the name of Jif to Cif - I mean who would ask for a bottle of cif in a shop???

Thanks again for all the comments.

Can anyone confirm for definite if Tornados are now being manufactured in China ( or anywhere else outside the UK ) as I am in a real 'need to know situation'!

Tony
