Having had my first RIB delivered on Sunday I just wanted to thank the users of RIB net for the information posted on site that has helped me as a guest over the last couple of months. I know I will be needing your help over the winter as i have a lot to do to get her ready for summer and getting out on the water.

I too have just purchased a new "second-hand" RIB and am a novice in the boating scene.

Like you I've found the information that people on this forum give freely is invaluable to making decisions about the questions I have. I've also used the search function on the forum to good effect also!

Just booked my RYA VHF short-range radio course for the Christmas holidays located at GAFIRS, Stokes bay.

Just hope the long winter month’s zoooom by, so that I can get the first taste in greater things to come.

I too am an expectant father and will be driving to Humber in Hull tomorrow to collect as Me-Me would call it "my first born". I go along with the earlier comments that the forum has been an endless source of advice and opinion and invaluable in making decisions. I'd go as far as to say that it probably convinced me to buy a RIB as opposed to other types of craft I was considering. The enthusiasm you lot have and the enjoyment you get shows through. I'm doing a refresher RYA level 2 this weekend and hope to follow closely with the VHF/DSC course all in readiness for what I hope will be a great 2004 RIB ing. Still haven't made a decision on the VHF and possibly DSC unit to buy so I'm keeping a close eye on the other threads. Hope to see you all in Pembrokeshire next year so that I can tag along behind the big boys ( and girls) on your intrepid journeys. Promise to post some photos when I get some suitable.

I bought one in October, and it has sat in the garden for 6 weeks! Very frustrating! Looking forward to putting it in the water in March.

We can't have you feeling left out, so congrats to you too. We're still going out in our boat (probably will be out in the Solent this weekend) so if you feel like a blast in that area, let us know.

Thanks for the offers of days out, I would be up for a trip in the solent as I have only experienced it on a windsurfer / red funnel ferry.

The boat is out of the water as I am sorting out all the relvant gear, doing a Level 2 course and sorting out somewhere to keep it.

I am planning to put it in the water in March - Nov.
