Thanks Pete! Unfortunatley we don't have sattelite T.V. so I can't get BBC or your other local channels. Coverage here has been limited. I've been online watching for updates.

Does anyone have any pics of the crew at RIBraid?

I recorded both TV slots. I will digitise them and make available on a web site ..... however as they are not my copyright I will only to it privately on a one to one basis for people that message me.

Hi Guys & Doll's

It is very good to be back home.

I have sat here for quite a while reading through all the comments that have been made about our trip. Firstly let me say that the views I express are purely my own and not from any other member of the team; as I have not spoken with them since we parted at Southampton Airport.

I first started Ribbing a few years ago and soon found how much I loved being around on the water and to be able travel to places that I had never been to before. Then I found "Ribnet" and through like minded people like yourselves' It opened up a whole new world of experiences to me.

I have met so many people and made so many new friends, I have lost count of the total number. For that I thank John K for getting Ribnet started.

Then I met Alan whom I had read many stories about, his travels and adventures. This went onto inspire me into thinking that one day I too would like to take on my own personal adventure. I just did not know how soon that was to be realised!

I learnt that Alan was preparing to take "Spirit" back to Newfounland to work for the Canadian Food Bank Charity with Egbert Walters. I had the pleasure of meeting Egbert in the Summer of 2003 when Spirit returned to Portsmouth from the teams Round the World trip. I simply said to Alan "Can I go with you". You all know the rest.

As for the comments that have been made about personal gain; this trip was never about money or self gain.

Spirit was going to work to help others who are not so futunate. Life in Newfoundland can be very harsh and people can and do starve up there every year. Alan, Egbert, Paul and myself are all working men. This trip was privately funded by ourselves and as far as I am aware did not have any sponsorship.

I left everything on Spirit the night we were lifted off. My losses are nothing in comparrison to both Alan & Egbert and to the people of Newfoundland.

As for thanking all those people who were involved in helping us; if you care to take the time and read what has already been published that was the thing first thing we all said!

I too am an ex-serviceman and I voluntered to do a JOB and I understood fully the implications of that job but I still wanted to do it. It is called caring for others and beliving in I what I do and enjoy doing it.

When I spoke to Gerry, our winchman, he said it was a difficult rescue but as a team we all helped make it a "Text Book" Rescue. That is why we train, and plan. I pray you never have to undergo anything like that yourselves. Should you do thank be thankfull for those people who are willing to put there lives at risk to help save others.

As for the money it is only tax money! I have paid my share over the years.

Life is about feeling and being. You are all entitled to an opinion as I have mine.

To those of you who know me, I thank you all for your kind wishes and thoughts.

For those of you who speak against us wrap yourself up in cotton wool and hibbernate for the rest of your days, you are not worthy of sharing this gods earth!!!

Thanks to everyone who have posted such positive comments about our adventures and a special thanks to everyone who has posted negitive ones. You are the people who have driven me on all of my life to do better things. without the negative comments I would not be half the person I am so keep them up. You can knock me down as many times as you like but if you never want me to get up again you will have to kill me.
There where only eight people who knew excactly what went on during the recovery, four of the helo crew and us four on board. If any of the knockers want the full details just ask, please do not assume you know.
As soon as we have got our feet back on the ground and had the oportunity to piece together the chain of events I will post a full and detailed report. In the meantime, i know that we are all lucky to be alive and I hope that by living through this accident we can help other seaman to survive.

I'm so sorry for those two rotton posts I submitted last night.

Please everyone accept my sincerest apologies as having re-read them I can see how offensive they are. I can't think what came over me, maybe a little too much drink and I was a little upset that Mr. Priddy had been rotton to Kipper a while back.

Anyway I take back everything I said, and want you all to know how much I admire the crew of the Spirit, as well as the two lovely ladies who went around Ireland.

I know it won't be easy to be forgiven for my outburst, but I do have a lovely Humber Rib called Blug IV, and I'm sure I will have to change it's name now as I wouldn't blame anyone for coming over and letting my tubes down.

Hurrah! for Ribnet!

Hurrah! for Team Spirit!

And a special Hurrah! for Mr. Priddy!

There probably are fora (forums) if drink is becoming a big difficulty in your life Blug. That must be very hard. If you can't find one I'd be very happy to look one up for you. Please send me a pm if you need support.
