Sr 5.4 q

I have a SR 5.4 and would like to take off and reglue all the rubbing strakes. As is is a comm version I forsee a lot required. Does anyone have any idea how much glue is needed to do this job?

And yes it is needed as half of the strakes are close to falling off as it is close to 20 yrs old.

Many thanks

Ian

Talk to Paul Tilley at TIDEL, but I would say you'd need over a litre s I guess that means a 2.5 kitre tin you'll also need thinners .

It's not that difficult to do but your better off doing it before it gets cold.

I find these invaluable in the prep http://7658.17361_1981.accurately-lo...0nylon%20brush

Thanks Rogue.

I was thinking at least 2 Lt as well. Didn't realise there was a 2.5 Lt tin. As far as weather it will be at least October so I'll take my chances and try and hit the good weather days - or use the bad ones for prep work only. I figure on doing only 1 strake at a time to keep them in position but recon I can do 1 on each side at the same time and then hold on with tape while it cures but we'll see.

Thanky you again.

Ian

you dont need to hold them on with tape while it cures, the alpha adhesives stuff that paul tilley sells almost seems to grab from a couple of inches away
watch the humidity when using the glue it does not like really damp air
