Welsh mates rates?
The numbers I have are as recent as immediately after the most recent UK VAT increase.

They need to be good considering they're twice the price of a humber !
(Yeah I know in your opinion they're twice as good etc !!)
But they're made of exactly the same stuff as a humber in exactly the same way.So should cost the same to build.
Wonder why they got taken over ?

Assuming it was all just about build cost then: are they laid up to the same spec (thickness, no of layers etc)? are the tubes made from the same thickness of material? are the finishing details on the tubes (rubbing strakes, handles, life lines etc) the same?

Beyond that you are into the difference between cost and value...

I doubt their pricing strategy was linked to their take over.

What about design costs?

I notice Humber use one mould for most models which obviously cuts down on cost, the Seariders beam increases with its length meaning a different mould for each model.

Hmmm - you may notice a remarkable resemblance between the 4.7 & 5.4 Seariders......

i was reading in one of the yachty mags a couple of weeks that they have dropped the Avon bit wait for it>>> zodiac searider!!

so technically i have a Avon 470 DD !!!

I]Avon Searider Becomes The Zodiac Searider
The well-respected range of Avon Searider rigid inflatable boats (RIB) has become the Zodiac Searider range following a product integration by the parent company, Zodiac MILPRO.
The new Zodiac SeaRider range now combines two of the world’s top names in RIB technology and will reassure customers with the knowledge that they have a product with two proud reputations to maintain.

Avon Inflatables is based in Wales and has been part of Zodiac MILPRO for many years, but until now the two ranges were sold under separate brand names and through separate distribution networks. As part of a wider product integration programme, both ranges will now be sold exclusively through the Zodiac network and under the Zodiac brand name. [/I][/I][/I]

They are listed as having different size beam and tubes, the differnce in tube size would explain the different internal beam dimensions..... still better than a Humber!
