South African RIBs

Hi,
i'm interested in your opinion on South African RIBs. Namely Falcon, Infanta, Centaure, Gemini or any others you might be aware of.

Thanks,
Paul

I wouldn't buy one, I used to think Geminis were Ok but they are not as good as Avon, Ribcraft Delta, Osprey,Humber,Redbay,Zodiac,Zepplin,XS

Is that a post purely to keep ahead of willk?

Any reasons why they're rubbish?

Btw, I haven't a clue!

2 word's one of which is rigged

Price engineered.

They go through a few dealers before they get to you each of whom makes a mark up, and they still represent good value!

Quality Assurance

Not as high s Euro Builders in the main see thread by Manos where he published photos of a Falcon being made then find one of the Protector factory posted by Gingercoastie? I've done a fair bit of repair work on Gemini's and I wasn't impressed.

Finish

Not always good doesn't always last, seen a fair bit of bubbling in the Gelcoats

Sea Keeping

In general SA hulls are really good , Gemini's have a chine arrangement that makes the boat corner like it's on rails. Falcons win races in SA quite regularly

I think that it is very interesting how guys comment on the RIB's built here. Remember, these boats are not built for the sea conditions that you guys are used to. Here we most often do surf launch, into some of the most energetic surf that you will find.

If these boats can survive here, I am pretty certain that they will take most abuse that you can hand them ;-).
