Kerny that's definitely good advice. However, that does also give you another factor to bear in mind... ...what if the others want to / need to go before you think conditions are ideal...

Good team work and trust if one of the party says no . Then you don't set off .

Have a search on here for various cross channel cruises.

Plenty to go wrong!

I wouldn't be doing it alone.

I am going to try it in May . Should be okay I will check the weather before setting off , drive on board , make sure the handbrake is on and go go and join the rest of the passengers on the condor ferry !!!

I don't think I would ever do it on my own , I may one day join one of you lot on a trip

Thats a fair point....

Well for one,

I think that anyone doing a trip like that should have some sort of experience of being out in the rough stuff first of all for a trip like that just so that they know the boat and its and their own limitations.

And two,

I think that most ribbers on here would know when to say no if that was the case and the majority rules....

A back up plan like you mentioned earlier comes to mind for trips like this.

I've done it on a RC5.45 with a Searider 5.4 for company. Great fun!!
Always stayed in a B&B overnight for a few beers and back after a hearty breakfast the next morning.
Track the weather for a couple of weeks before hand to build your own picture, don't be afraid to cancel, and you'll know if the weather window is good enough, if in doubt it's not!
But you'll have a ball.
