Slow to pick up Boat Or is that me

Hi
I have 4 metre narwhal rib,and have fitted a oldish electric start Mercury 40 hp but it just does not bit the water if i try to give it alot of revs have to pick up speed quite slowly,any idears welcome.Would these trim tabs help as it seem to go nose up no power ( when it does 24 mph on flatish water)
Manual trim which i have not adjusted yet.

I had a the same problem with a Avon SR4 and a merc 40 Blueband, after fitting smart tabs it was a different boat ( I also fitted a 50hp suzuki four stroke at same time, so that helped also ).

Smart tabs defiantly kept the nose down and made getting on to the plane a lot easier. I am selling them if your interested

Yes I will proberly play about with the manual trim setting but not so sure that is the answer
