That's 'Georges' the famous friendly bottlenose dolphin. I think he has spent a fair amount of time around Weymouth but does travel around a bit. He was resident off the French coast for a while which is where his French name comes from. If you do an internet search you can find out more about him. The reason I know it's him is becuase of the distinctive propellor injury he has on his dorsal fin. He is quite fond of the moving parts of boats. This summer he visited us down this way a few times (Penzance) and was fascinated by our jet intake and took a jacuzzi in the jet flow.

That's amazing Dunc! The 'photo was taken by Viv in the south-east coastal area of Brittany. Could Georges have been resident there for a while?

We were worried that the local fishermen wouldn't take too kindly to the big lad sniffing around the trawlers.

(Good news about a dolphin in Pompey Rich!)
