Sea Water Falls Connel Ferry

Many, many years ago - back in day as a nipper - I remember being fascinated by the sea water falls under the bridge at Connel Ferry near Oban.

Anyone ever ribbed through it with the tales to tell?

Been through it 0.5 hr into my running in with "max 1500 rpm" as a top limit. Got bored after a while at 0.4 knots & thought 2K for a few mins won't hurt!

Done it in an 11' dory on tiller as well. The acceleration through the bridge was quite impressive.

If you are simply wanting to make passage, keep to the south side. If you want entertainment & the risk of loosing your skeg / prop, keep north! The "falls" rock is pretty much dead centre, and blindingly obvious at mid or below tide

Oh, and mind the canoes!
