If it ensures the long term future of an inshore lifeboat stationed at Cowes then I think its a good idea particulary given it's located in the central area of the Solent.

If taken over what happens to your Barbarian Rib do you keep it or get a RNLI Rib.

Our current boat would be sold, and replaced with an atlantic 85.

I take it you will all be re trained to the RNLI way and will have to undergo the basic fitness test do you anticipate losing any members due to the cross over if it goes ahead.

All crew will need to be re-trained, in some form. I will be having a meeting with the training manager of the RNLI to discuss this further, when all is finalised. Yes there will be a medical for all crew to attend. As to if we will loose any crew, i cannot comment on at this stage.

I'm with Doug. What is they say "A good big 'un will always beat a good little 'un". There's no doubting you guys are good, but you can add a lot more from being under the RNLI umbrella than you could probably ever manage for yourselves.
Wish you all the very best with it (and I have to declare an interest - nearly 30 years with the RNLI, most of it very positive)
