River Hamble Berths

I want to get a berth on the River Hamble for April. I was looking at RK Marine or Deacons. I am on the waiting list for both.

Two questions - Should I worry that I might never get to the top of the list? Are berths like rocking horse poo or do plenty of people move on leaving spare berths for new comers?

Also - Are the two I have selected the best considering the price? I don't mind being up river but if anybody knows any non-MDL marinas on the hamble I should look at I'd be grateful for any advice.

Peter.

Have you thought about the Itchen, eg Drivers Wharf. Bit cheaper and available now.

Our Unit is in drivers and its a good place to be. However if the Hamble is for you and it's upriver how about Eastlands That's the one you see from the m27

Non MDL

Warsash Marine - at the bottom of the Hamble on the Warsash side.

Hamble Yacht Services. You have to go through Port Hamble (MDL) to get to it if on land. Will be cheaper than Port Hamble and have an area set aside for RIBs next to their travel hoist.

Moodys has just been bought by Premier, so not MDL but probably just as expensive!

Universal Marina - on Warsash side between Moodys and Mercury.

Try Eastlands Boat Yard - last marina on the Hamble under M27 bridge. New pontoons going in and will be ready for April 2006. Not cheap, but not as exspensive as others on the Hamble. Take about 35-40 mins to get down to Southammpton Water. Also try Universal Marina, they too are upgrading facilities.
