Ribeye Hypatex vs. Avon hypalon

Hi there

We're looking at buying a Ribeye for a tender and our looking at the Ribeye 4m with a 40hp 4stroke Yam. The Ribeye 4m has Hypatex tubes which have a 2 year warranty wheras the larger Ribeyes use hypalon with a 5 year guarantee.

Can anyone tell me their experiences with the smaller Ribeyes that use Hypatex or tell me what hypatex is and why the warranty is only 2 yrs?

The Ribeye inflatable, tender and playtime ranges use Hypatex.

The Avon Adventure 4m uses hypalon though it doesn't have davit lifting points which is one point that we require.

We currently have an Avon 3.45m Seasport grey/blue which is nearing the end of its life at nearly 20yrs !! The hypalon tubes are showing wear (would you believe it) but we have been extremely satisifed with performance and usability but wanting to upgrade now.

To the Max.

Avon fabric is as tough as old boots and lasts forever (almost!).

I would stick with what you know and have the davit lifting points added

Hypertex is probably what they call PVC - it's inferior to hypalon.

I did a search on Google for Hypatex and it comes up with Hypalon made by Dupont.

We had Hypatex on our Narwhal dinghy of many years ago and the transom feel out of it. Has Hypatex changed. The 2 year guarantee by Ribeye certainly tells alot about what they think of Hypatex...
