Ribeye 600 is on my drive!

My new (second hand) boat is safely sat on my drive (all locked up) on the trailer!

I just have a couple of minor jobs to do:

Job 1 - to re-screw the fuel filler tube into the indent in the console, where one screw has pulled slightly, leaving the tube off-flush

Job 2 - to take out the "botched" VHF cable that has been coiled up unfinished on the A-frame for so long that it's got salt water ingress in the inner screen

Job 3 - to sort the cable gland that has had two lots of holes drilled, with two lots of snapped off screws left in and then left loose and unsealed, with the cable from job 2 going through it and under the boat

And then I can take it for a spin without the salesman sat next to me!! Woohoo!

I've got the same combination sat on my drive, with a few jobs too, install chart plotter and fixed VHF. I've had it out on the water a few times though and it handles and goes really well with a yammy 115. Enjoy.

Yeah, mine's a Yammy 115 too. Will endeavour to put some pics up over the weekend. If I get time in between doing the jobs & going to the boat jumble!

Dont leave it on the drive too long or you will find more little jobs to do. Mine has sat on my drive for three weeks now and the little list of things to tinker with gets longer by the day.

Ah right, thanks Biffer. But if the boat came with screws (there are three counter-sunk self-tappers holding the filler tube in place, in the indent at the side of the console). One of these screws has lifted/parted from the fibre glass and consequently the filler tube is off-flush by having one side of it lifted up. Do I replace with like for like, or would I be better taking all three out and replacing with three bolts?

And here are some pics!! (Taken by the seller, but it won't be long til I can bore you with loads of my own).

Without looking, I would have thought bolts, with washers to spread any load, would be better.

I feel your pain!

We bought a second hand 2007 Ribeye 600 in May this year as our first boat and have had great fun through the summer but there is always just one more thing needs doing . . . . . . . .

Can't imagine not having one now though. What did we do with all our time before we had the RIB??

Thank you. I'm quite pleased with it!

I don't have a pic of the tube yet, but can get one done at some point before I start.

Basically it's a round filler tube that sits in a recess in the side of the console. The fuel cap screws down to cover the tube flange and fixing screws (hence them being counter sunk).

The cap is a bit tight because the tube is not quite square due to one of the three screws on the flange having been pulled out of the GRP. I agree that the load is spread better on a bolt/washer so I may look to replace all three with drilled holes and a counter-sunk bolt with washers.

There are always jobs to do on any boat I have owned, just brought my SR4 back from Devon after the summer (stays down from feb half term till October) and need a lot of fetteling

just need to clear out the garage to fit it in

Fetteling you say, Ive now discovered that fetteling will consume all your free time and money.

Ive found myself re routing wires inside the console just to make them look nice and line up neater, polishing my props, remounting the bilge pumps so they lined up better, replacing all the cable ties with black ones so they matched the wiring loom, changing the battery box straps, lining the anchor box with matting, changing all the ropes to nicer ones.

None of these things were needed and most of it you couldnt see - but I couldnt help myself. I feel like one of those weirdos on those compulsive disorder documentarys on telly

Really I should just stick it in the water and go an play with it.

Haha Trimix, you sound like a man after my own heart! I know I'll end up getting all OCD about things like that too. But I think I'll get the three (original) jobs out of the way first and then go play before I start "fetteling"!

Ive now started looking at the trailer and plan to re-route the freshwater flushing pipes next, and Im sure the cable ties could line up better.
