Have gone for two Raymarine radio units Ray240E is modular, and Ray218E (I like their products and keeping all electronics from the same manufacturer to allow better integration - also got a great deal on the gear) for back up purposes only really....they are different units and 240E takes very little console space as its a handset only on facia...

I think this one is the better unit as well (I might be mistaken).

Each is going to be seperately wired and have its own whip so should be totally autonomous. I will report back how well they work....

I also have the waterproof Ray101E handheld in a ditch bag.

Ribcraft 7.8 Maverick Project

Maverick has finally been named - I think it looks great high up on the bow ... got to honest urmmmed and arrrdd for ages where and what colour, font style etc..what d'ya think?

Dorian thanks for being patient....

Most of the electronics now plumbed and the 300 hp Suzuki engine has been fitted - OMG its huge!! The guys are gonna have to retro fit the SeaStar Power Assist unit as they can't get hold of any?? But to prep the pipes they are setting up a clip/unclip unit so the Power Assist can be fitted next month.....without too much fuss...

The team are well versed in setting up the NMEA input/output for the outboard to the C80 unit - I thought this was a none starter but they were chilled about it - engine data integration which will give me revs, oil, coolant, boost and alternator on one screen (fingers crossed...)

They have hold of some new prop (4 bladed) which they're gonna fit - reckon they're the dogs!!!

The hull has been prepped for the keel guard - and I think thats now done but havnt got a shot of this -

A Frame should be going on Monday, wired up and seats to follow....

6 more sleeps...!

is now and the blood supply has returned to my feeble brain. I must adimit that wearing it in bed last night together with the wooly bear liner was a tad warm!

Next plan is to sit at the helm, in the garage, wearing dryuit and drinking tea! Join me?

Haven't quite got a mental image of Dorian, Jason and Charlie as 'suits'. LOL

Suits you sir!

We found Nemo 18 months ago (NMEA2000)! but the Raymarine software is a bit weak and the units dont display all the data that is available, it has got better recently with software upgrades but they started to get interested when petrol went to 1.32 per lt STRANGE THAT..

The mportant stuff like fuel consumption is there and revs but when i looked at the software last it did not have fuel usage decrementing from a known point.By not having this you cannot see your range and amount of fuel left.

Jason as not been the same since they closed C&A he was really into that fluro ski gear...

Hopefully it will be warmer for sea trial

Dor

Ribcraft 7.8 Maverick Project

Project build moving along at a pace now and nearly, nearly there....

Went to boat show early this week hence I'm a couple of days behind the updates..sorry - for those who havn't been yet show was good fun - though it hurts to walk past all the shops with an echo sounding in your wallet! Some great looking RIBs there ...

'A' Frame (I think Ribcrafts A Frames are superb!) is now on with the see-me, radome and spots - still have the whips to go on, and the lifebouy brackets. The GPS is being seated onto console.

Bow sampson post and stainless snatch type fairlead for bow..this area is being reinfoced with extra hypalon.

Seats are now bolted down - with jockey seats having the stainless backrests with bolsters and wing backs...Speaking with Dorian yesterday the guys are just going through all wiring and double clipping e'thing for coding...

Sea trails are planned for Thursday - trying to get down to view, then Maverick is back to factory for any tweaking then pick up....I'll try to get some shots from the sea trial...

2 more sleeps !!
