Hi Sarah - we were in a not dissimilar position regarding knowledge and expereince 30 months ago. Eventually went for a 6.5M Solent with six jockies and a 150 optimax two stroke. I know new is over your budget, but they do appear reasonably priced with 200-300 hours on them. Might be worth calling Lee or Kev at Fairweather Marine and see what they know is for sale. We can only say we are 100% happy with ours.

JBT Marine

Hi Sarah,

Firstly welcome to the very mad world that is Ribnet!
You will find lots of good solid advice here.

Have you tried JBT Marine?
They normally have a good stock of used boats.
If they have not got what you need Jason can normally find it for you!!!
Jonny, Jason and Louise are very helpful and do know there stuff.

Whilst there are better people on here to give you help and advice on the boats and engines when it comes to the point that you need help and advice on electronics be sure to drop me a line, only to pleased to help.
I have even been known to be impartial at times , no I have really!!

Good luck with your up coming purchase.

All the best

Jon

I would suggest you contact the maker of the engine in the first instance, am sure they will be able to help you with the parts you require.

All the best

Hi Jonjon

Thanks for this, I'm test driving a boat on Thursday (weather permitting) - I have a feeling that this may be the ONE...? But if not I may well be in touch, but I think that we have decided on a 6-6.5.

Thanks for the offer, I know that your boat will fly if you decide to sell it as the Avon SR's are in serious demand.

Sarah

Hi Bruce

Good to hear about your experience - this sounds almost the same set-up as the one we are interested in. If Thursday's test drive is unsuccessful, we will definitely give them a call.

Thanks

Sarah

Hi there Jon

I did try JBT - sadly little stock at this time of year. I think that we have found the boat we want - test drive on Thursday.

With regards electrics - I may well be in contact - you might regret the offer. Hopefully this boat is 'perfect' but in reality...

Many thanks

Sarah
