RIBase
Just out of interest, our insurance covers us from the Canaries to Norway, there are specific lat/longs detailing where exactly but other than that there is no limit from a safe haven. I think the same applies to the 2.6m Cadet!

I'm with Porthcawl - just checked with them, my insurance only covers coastal waters (12 miles of land) - They won't cover me for Alderney without an aux engine - which A: I don't have and B: even if I did not sure I could fit it anywhere.

They said it was due to the boat size - if it was 6 meters+ wouldn't be a requirement. They are worried about not being able to maintain heading up to sea & being caught broadside in a large swell (which they rate at 1.5m +)

I guess I can see (no pun intended) their point but think they are a little cautious in what they call a large swell.

Yes, but give them a call for a quote they may do it and they should remember me and AJ taking out the policy the other day.

Westfield have done all they can and very helpful and disappointed with AXA's response.

Therefore, I need to change Insurance companies, and to save me a lot of calling and time those of you who have this level of cover can you please advise who you are with. PeterM - please feel free to comment

I do not have an Aux engine for those companies that require this and have my PBL2 cert.

Cheers

Alex

I'm with Towergate Mardon.
Last year they insured me on a trip to Guernsey, I think they charged 40-50. My rib is 5.5 , wasn't an issue at all.
