Quick Help needed, Caribe 14 open vs Avon 12 deluxe?

I have a Caribe 14ft 2007 with 40hp on offer, just open boat rib.

Or 11.5ft Avon with the bench seat and centre console and ski pole etc 2002 and 30hp

Both the same price

Both are hypalon

Which would you choose?

Hard to answer without knowing more about how you plan to use the RIB. But based on your cool username, I suspect you plan to spearfish from the RIB. In which case, we'd need to know how many spearos will be going out with you. If there is you and a dive buddy then maybe the smaller boat would be nice, with more, I'd suggest the larger boat.

That said, I'm really new to this, so maybe you want to weigh some other opinions a little more heavily.

yep usually just me and the Mrs diving.

On occassion we may take 4 people site seeing, but both have seating for 4.

The avon is more of one of those cruiser boats you see with the big bench seats and centre console and side seat off console.

The caribe is a straight out surveyed inflatable with storage for 2 30 litre tanks under the back gunnel. It has foot strapping. Could provide more clutter free room as its 2-3 feet longer. Its also a 40hp not a 30 and all the gear is 5 years newer. Its a c14 model.

I had a 2001 C20. It was a good boat. they are tenders so very stable and pretty light, I think my engine weighed more than the boat. the tubes ride in the water. The hull is fairly shallow so they pound in the chop more than I liked but that said I took it to the channel islands off shore of CA. With a 90HP Honda it wasn't very fast, maybe 20kts cruising, I don't think it hit 30 wot. hardly used any gas though.

It was a better family boat than dive boat. It had molded storage lockers up front that had cushions so it made a great couch but tough for tank storage.

Sold it a year or two ago and the tubes were still holding air perfectly.

i see so its a medium V rib? thats interesting. caribe pontoons are big at over 50cm. but no false floor like with the X models, so not sure how id go putting a console/seating in.

the other rib is an aggressive V shape which i like but its 2.5ft smaller. but it is fully set up as centre console back bench seat deluxe style.
