If I paint my deck gray can I return it to Avon too?

Feckin eejit, Jace offered to repair it and you knocked him back,

Show some photos of your repaired transom and a receipt/bill for the repair.
I see you've still been logging in to check the site!

Ribcraft have exceeded all expectations, bent over backwards and more. All at a time when companies are cutting costs and closing down. Five star service I would say!

I disagree! My seariders not Ged's new boat. I'm going to sue!

If I ever get enough money to buy a new RIB I think RIBcraft will be up there as one of the first to look at simply on piece of mind alone. What started as a slating as turned around to show them in the best light possible.

As the saying goes, WHAT COMES AROUND GOES AROUND.

Can't beleive this guy buying something used and holding the manufacturer responsible for any problems shown up from usage. Here when you buy something used its as is period and if you don't like what you bought than you should have left it alone.

I'm also extremely impressed RIBcraft was willing to do repairs free of charge when they had zero obligations to do so. Good for them but unfortunately some people out there take advantage of the good ones like them.

Cheers

I think the original poster should come back on to comment - it would only be fair to hear his response to Ribcraft before commenting.

Just playing satan's solicitor for a moment.....

Was the hull still under warranty? Ribcraft say "Each Ribcraft has a 5 year hull and tube warranty, a leader in offering this level of warranty, service and support."

How was the boat described the by the original vendor in the advert? 'Bought as seen' or 'fabulous condition'.

Did he go back to the vendor with this issue and what was the response?

If, for example, I bought a second hand Range Rover that was 2 years old, and still under warranty and the gearbox went pop, I'd expect some kind of cover under the warranty arrangements.

On the other hand, he's bought second hand, didn't look at it, stamped his foot and has rejected a good offer of help from the manufacturer.

As for the actual transom construction, we've already discussed this and as explained, this problem is extremely rare and not a common problem with our boats at all. In fact a manufacturer you named in your e-mail who you think build a more solid transom than us, perhaps you should tell the chap who's has two Outboards at the bottom of the sea after 10 hours of use on a new boat! I hope the owner will post it on here..

The final correspondence you basically gave me a bill for £3000 to make you a happy owner and not post any more about this issue, I don't like being blackmailed! I've already offered to repair the boat free of charge whether it was a manufacturing fault, damage or whatever had gone wrong, we even offered to pick it up from the port. It's not my fault that you bought a used boat from a private customer over the Internet without viewing her first, it’s also not my fault that the boat was privately exported to Norway.

Jason
It was only 5 hours Jason, and once its all sorted out i will post all details on here, but as it looks like it will be going to court it might be a while

The engine in a separate transom failure case. I think.
