Question about registration in UK

Hi,

I just bought a 2008 6.3 Northcraft fitted with a 150hp Yamaha near Hull. The owner never do the registration of the boat in UK. It seems that it's not mandatory in UK.

Unfortunately, Belgian customs ask me the proof that the boat is no more registered in UK. I don't know who to contact. :'(

I search in the forum but don't find any info.

Could someone tell me the contact name/address of the authorities that could give me this kind of document in UK?

Thanks a lot for your help,

Jeremy

I'm not sure how you can prove that something wasn't registered, maybe the RYA or some could help.
Who does the Belguin authorities think it should have been registered with as a ltter off them should do?

Jremy,

Not sure if you can find the information you need here:

http://www.mcga.gov.uk/c4mca/ukr-hom...smallships.htm

If vessels are "registerred" in the UK this is where/how it is done, but you are correct for vessels which do not leave UK waters there is no requirement to register.

You

should get a declaration from the seller that he did not register it with the small ships register. That should enable you to register it with the Belgian authorities. You might also want to get him/her to declare whether the VAT has been paid, and prove it. There should no VAT for you to pay, although if he has not paid it, they might chase you for it (albeit it should be on the current value of the vessel).
