The final chapter for Avon 5.4
Good Afternoon Everyone,
I thought I'd drop you all a note about how I made out with the auction. As you recall, I found this RIB on a government auction website. The photo's made the boat look terrible but at least complete. Armed with your useful inspection tips, I visited the craft and found her to be a 1984 Avon 5.4 as you all knew. She seemed in fair shape, however it was pure speculation if the bottom of the hull was damaged or if she held air since she was literally frozen to the ground!
Well, when bidding started, the value hovered around the $500 mark for a couple of days. In the last few hours of the auction, the bidding went wild and someone actually paid $2100 for the RIB as you see her. Certainly to rich for my blood and far beyond what you all considered reasonable.
Thank you all for your advise. Although I didn't end up with the Sea Rader, I at least learned much about RIB's.
Fairwell, I'm off on the hunt for my next RIB!
