Roy - Once you've decided which is the best engine, then do the maths and work out how many hours you'l have to do to get your money back on a deisel, and then take a gamble on how long we'll have red deisel for!

Roy

we have 2 lines of 9 mtr ribs. The Baltic is really for twin installation but have fitted single Mercruiser 320 and max speed with single diesel is only 36 knots with 12 + 2 persons on board
The RS line is for single diesel installation and has a much deeper V hull
see photo (the rib is branded C-RIB 30 cos that is the name used in the Scandinavian market) during the tests on a lake in Poland the speed was 45 knots (Bravo 1 drive) with 5 persons and full fuel ie 440 ltr

Cookee:
The maths is realy simple her in Norway.
Diesel costs about 6,50 kr. pr liter an Gas costs 13,50 kr. pr liter.
With an average of 45 liters an hour or so i dont have to ride to many hours to pay the diferense between the diesel engine and an outboard.

Andre:
My boat does about 42 knots with 8 persons and 250 liter diesel.
Its very good in rough seas. but a bit lacy when its flat.
It performs very good in turns with no sliding.

You must be mistaken sir! Tornado say they've never sold a 9.5 metre!

This must be true, or they would have paid the agreed royalties to their designer.

there is a valiant 7,5 m patrol here in Norway that is used as a charter boat, that have broken the engine mounts on the merc 4.2 l 2 or maybe 3 times only the first year in use.
