One Day Licences

As you have probably seen I have been trying to find out about 1 day licences on the River Thames.

The problems for us "trailer", spontanious type users is

1) Applications can only be made by post to the Reading office, or one of the few locks that joins other waterways

2) Postal applications "should be made at least TEN WORKING DAYS in advance"

3) Only 6 one day licences per year are allowed

Now then how many of us know that its going to be a nice sunny day in 2 weeks time!

All other harbours and slips that I've used I normaly pay £5-£10 for a days licence and parking - not bad for a days fun, and I don't object to paying.

Not being able to "pay on the day" on the Thames seems to prevent access for the "casual user"

I'd like to here peoples comments - and I will communicate them to the Agency
(Who I used to work for - but in IT!!)

Hopefully if 1-day licences were easier to get, more people would use the river.
I wonder how may licences they issued last year?

Hi there Jools

The policy adopted by the agency is obviously in place to PREVENT casual use of the river. Who decided that this should be the case? This is an unelected QANGO, what right do they have to decide on such a policy?
