Ok own up who did it?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/4409662.stm#

Two RIBs used to attack cruise ship!!!

I reckon Garfish had to be one of them and either Rogue Wave or Eupa the other as nobody else's RIB would have had the range!!!

They actually fired RPGs at the ship - one went through someone's cabin but they were very lucky and weren't hurt - must have gone right through!!!

This comment made me wonder

"The crew used an on-board loud acoustic bang to deter the gunmen, making them believe they were under fire"

A maroon possibly???

It is a wonder they haven't targetted a cruise liner before - rich pickings!!!

I saw some photos of the "speedboats" on the telly. They looked like RIB hulls minus the tubes.

Didn't realise Yanks knew what sarcasm was......

Reason I said they were RIBs is cos that's what the bloke said on the BBC video - knowing the accuracy of the media it could just have easily been a skip with an outboard!!!

I don’t think they will be deterred next time, assuming they have internet access.

Rather than the acoustic bangs, if they'd blasted out a bit of Bob Marley and chucked a few big spliffs over the side, the "Pirates" would of soon lost interest in robbing the thing!!

Cant answer for Garfish or RW but my rib aint going anywhere at the moment as some shit has KNICKED MY PROPS -- if you dont believe me the rib is back home- will send you a photo with me in it holding up todays copy of the Sunday Times????????????. It will take me at least two weeks to get replacements as they are counter rotating and from Michigan Wheel. What a thing to say - after all my offers of kindness, civility . Mind you - thats a pretty good idea Codders. rob the rich and pay the poor. It seems that this boat was for the upper echelons. Garfish as crew???????? that would be a laugh!!!!!!! would need a a bloody Websters!!. can you imagin Garfish giving a Mayday!!. Take Jwalker any day - he knows so much about boats, I am just a little boy compared to him.

Anyway, I would imagine anyone that would go on a cruise ( Fat B'trds boat trip) would be glad of a bit of excitement in their lives. Personally, I'd rather spend two weeks banged up in Wormwood Scrubs! At least the conversation would be more interesting .

I read thisw somewhere else

The device used by the Seabourn Spirit to drive off two boatloads of cut-throat pirates armed with AK47s and RPGs is reported as being the LRAD acoustic device made by American Technology Corporation; if so, this can maintain a 150db disruptive tone of a character that causes humans to become completely disorientated and void their bowels. It is reported to be effective at up to 200m

I doubt it to be honest - these things were developed for crowd control - the passengers reported a loud bang - not a high pitched shriek. It also says the loud bang made them think they were under fire.

I really doubt the effectiveness of these new "funny weapons" - nothing beats a dose of lead!!! There is an amazing new technology available to defeat these acoustic weapons - ear muffs!!!
