Fatal mistake working down to his budget & not up to your standards. No matter how many times you told him it was wrong once you did the work its going to land back on your toes. Been there plenty of times, telling folk doing stuff their way wont last then when it doesn't last there back complaining that it didnt last like its your fault![emoji35]

No idea where the mentality comes from but its pretty common, you look at them & think I told you this would happen what part of that didn't you understand but there in full rant that the job you did failed.
Only way to avoid issues is adopting the attitude its my way or the highway, you might loose the odd job but jobs with hassle attached you can do without.
Too late now, theres probably no way hes going to be happy unless you re do the job the way it should have been done at your expense. He'll tell the story to anyone who will listen but omit the part where you told him it was wrong in the first place.
Put it behind you plenty of decent customers who appreciate a good job and dont want corners cut

^^^^What he said.
Much the same experience in my own business & learnt fairly quickly that there are some people whose business isn't worth the aggro you know you'll get.

You work is top notch Nugent.

People that know you will know that. This is no different to a punter asking a mechanic to fit parts other than OE, most will say no because it comes back to bite them on the ****. Anyway, hope it works out.

Wow! Just read this! Thanks for the link Nasher, I don't look on here very often

Few points to add to the below for purposes of transparency and honesty and I think I'll leave it at that...

"I did a job 2 yrs ago new deck there spec"

9th Nov 2020
From Edd - "Can you advise if its 12mm or 18mm deck on there plz bud"
From me - "Morning Ed, its more like 9mm at present. I'd think she'd want at least 12mm as will be using her for diving etc. My Ribcraft had 12mm and held up fine".
From Edd - "12mm is the norm so 12mm it is boss"

"It's now failed . And am a tiny runt as refusing to re do it" and "Am useless apparently no idea what am doing etc"

I flatly refuse to acknowledge any name calling or similar. I've continued to refer with you directly until this point and kept the matter private. I was hoping you'd have taken the time to at least have come to see what's gone wrong so you might not repeat the mistake with another customers boat.

"Take the bloody tubes of and go 18mm not 12 mm delta crap like I suggested "

No mention of this in the quote or any of the emails or messages Edd. You were always quite happy and quite confident in claiming this was a good job

I'll leave it at that. The shear fact you openly raised this on a public forum is quite surprising. I'm not sure what you were hoping to achieve?
