Lunchtime in the Solent

Where do you folk reckon are the best-of-the-best places to go for a spot of lunch while out for a days ribbing?

If you are talking about pub style lunch then I would go to the Light Ship in the entrance to Porsmouth Harbour as the view outside is superb, watching all the boats coming in and out, fighting the current.

Yes, in the Marina behind it, think it is Haslar Marina, managed to escape the lady on her bike 3/4 times now so avoided the mooring fee, which I think is about £5-6 so not too bad.

I hope that isn't your boat moored there, the evidence could be incriminating if you didnt pay your mooring fees!

If the tides right, anchor on the beach in Bembridge or tie up at the victoria yacht club pontoon for a pint in their bar and lunch(wooton creek) or tie up at Shalfleet and walk up to the new inn in the village(newtown lakes).
You can tell i like the quieter places with these choices

In my opinion the Folly does very good food and so does the Kings Head in Yarmouth.

At the Folly you can sometimes get free mooring. At Yarmouth you always have to pay.

The Mary Mouse 2 at Haslar is also recomended and we normally pay £4.50 for berthing. The Ladies of this establishment are very nice. If thats an issue.
