Journey home

Well top weekend rough stuff and calm stuff. Always something to do to your boat after most trips. This one was exceptional lol

Ariel snapped, Sunpad at the front of the boat decided to part with the screws engine decided to not rev all the way after 20 mins if perfect running and then the wheel bearing gave way on the way home!

You gotta laugh. Anyway all back safe and sound now with a few jobs in front of us. That's boating non stop fun

Here are some pics of the fun we had.

Sounds like a nightmare! Did the roadside recovery take just trailer or car and boat?

Roadside recovery were ace. With a company called IC. Mechanic out inside 40 mins. Then a low loader in ten mins. Boat and trailer on the low loader delivered back home to our drive. Couldn't ask for a better service

Usually what they say is we will get it to a safe place and it has to fit on a low loader

It depends on your membership I think. I've been with an RAC member who was refused recovery of the trailer but been told by others that they have had them recovered

When the AA recovered my 21ft RIB it only just fitted on a fairly large low loader. The problem was not the length of the loading area but getting the trailer on to it because of the overhang behind the axle

Green Flag will recover your trailer as long as it's a standard 50mm ball hitch

Sad to see it Neil. I guess this is part of running (relatively) elderly RIBs. There but for the grace of God and all that. Glad you home safe and it didn't ruin your trip.

We have 1000+ miles to do at the end of April/beginning May so fingers crossed.

When i was a member of the rac the wheel came off my trailer on the m62.when i rang them i was told they would only recover my trailer if it was the tow veichal that was broke as l was not covered for trailer.did offer to sell me extra cover there and then they would recover it.ended up fixing it myself on the hard shoulder with traffic officer closing the inside lane.luckilly don't tow much anymore but sitting in sh#t when i do.

I've been a member of RAC
For years they would not cover the trailer if it broke down because it's to big, but if you join the camping & caravan club and join RAC through them they will recover any size trailer.
Even worked out slightly cheaper with paying club membership, green flag do same offer but with caravan club

Sent from my iPhone using Rib.net

Fleet cars are a nightmare for trailer cover.

AA covers the car, but nothing else and can't take out an extension for the trailer. They will recover the trailer if the car breaks down -0 which is something.

Britannia used to cover both but will now not cover a fleet car, RAC won't touch it as its a fleet vehicle.

Green Flag were happy to cover both.

Never had to use ( yet!) but my AA cover policy document says:
Maximum Vehicle Weight: 3.5 tonnes (3,500kg) gross vehicle weight Maximum Vehicle Width: 7ft 6in (2.3m)
Assistance will also be provided for a caravan or trailer which was on tow at the time of the breakdown, provided that it falls within the above limits.
