XCwweather is great for telling you current windspeeds etc.
I have to be honest though I find all the weather forecasts crap these days. I don't know what has changed. There was a period a few years ago where the forecasts were almost always right - now they are almost always wrong!!!
I have a little app on my phone that updates to show the current weather and the next 5 days. The data comes from the Met Office. It never seems to get it right - tells me it's raining when I am being blinded by the sun and when I am getting drenched it tells me it's a lovely day. |
Yeah. It still seems to work from here, though it does get through to the 'new' site.
I agree the new one's not as good in some ways, though I've got used to it. If you click on the links to the marine forecasts (inshore, coastal etc.) you get back to the old site, which works like lightning and gives the same forecasts as the Coastguard.
I think the inshore waters forecasts are tending to err on the side of caution and forecasting the strongest wind possibly to be encountered, rather than an average for the area. I always use the Coastal forecast too and interpolate, as I'm rarely more than a few miles offshore and hardly ever 12 miles. It must be that the Met Office is worried about litigation.
It's a dangerous policy. It won't take long before people, who've stayed at home on a great day because of a bad forecast, will ignore them in future and one day get into trouble.
I think it's all a plot by Mr. Misery Brown to prevent anyone in the whole country from going out to play.
