Hull polishing & Keelguard installation

Hi folks ,
Soon it is getting warmer and I want to do some cosmetic repairs & to polish the hull of my 5.4 SR .
Once this is done I intend to install a keelguard .
These works are not really comfortable with the boat sitting on the trailer so I thought to take it off and to place it on with the keel on some old tires . Fuel / oil tank would be empty .
Then I would take the winch of my car to turn it 70 - 80 degrees up - with deflated tubes and putting some matrazes on the floor to protect the hull / tubes .
Has somebody practiced this before ??
This way I could work very easy first on one side of the hull , and then I would turn it over to the other side .
Also Keelguard installation would be quite easy .

Any reccomendations ? Suggestion ?

On a german forum there is at the moment a similar discussion and one of the guys did this job in a car shop .
Unfortunately I do not have this possibility ..

Regards Jürgen

I have little similar plans on my sr too. I was thinking on tilting the boat with inflated tubes, but having something soft between the tube and the garage floor. Console and engine remowed. I don't somehow like to have the weight of the boat on the empty tubes, worried about the radical change in shape from inflated might open some old seams..

No idea what is the right way top do it though.

Hi ,
You are right - would be wise to take the engine off which is not so much work to do .. but my console is glassed in .
Nobody else done this job in another way rather than laying underneath the boat / trailer ?

Thanks - Jürgen
