I understand that, but it is clear Osprey is now under new management who are keen to address whatever issues there were before.

I think it is a fair one to make. He tried to save money on his own boat but where it is someone else paying there is no incentive to cut corners. No, we didn't haggle at all actually. We felt the price was fair and we avoided haggling in order to keep goodwill, Roy ended up doing a lot of little things which we requested which amounted to the same sort of amount we could have gained by haggling.

No they probably won't but the rest of us may base an opinion on your condescending remarks about an Osprey owner.

I'm fairly sure that I haven't expressed an opinion. In fact, I pointed out that I have only ever seen one Osprey up close (Deano's) and it looked like a fine RIB.

AFAIK, you've been looked after very well on here in your Trade capacity, up to and including having your posts deleted for you on occasion.

You have a couple of Osprey owners here with issues that they've been discussing on the forum previously and in this thread. You also have a huge support base. I have no axe to grind with any of you.

Getting back to the OP, I think you should be making your decision more on quality and reputation than just appearance. You may have seen the smartest rib ever, but if it has a cheapo far eastern hull you'll end up disappointed.

As for quality of fit out - that all depends on your standards and expectations. Fit out is to some extent an art and what one person may think is fine might abhor another. The only way to guarantee my fit out met my standards was to do it myself. So far it has performed exactly as expected. In Gotchi's case there have been a catalogue of problems, some of which were Raymarine issues and nothing to do with whoever fitted the equipment. Some of the 'fixes' did leave a little to be desired even when done by supposed professionals in nearby islands.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Osprey, but I would do the fit out myself.

If & when I ever buy another boat I would fit it out myself. I just find it ironic that to have fitted out my current boat myself, would have initially cost me more, but I would have saved both time & money in the long run.

Fit out is exactly that, you get as good as you pay for with experience being key.
That's right, I had a very smooth rid around Anglesey the other week!

That said my boat was built in late 1999 and has stood the test if time well. Looks a bit tired, but generally does 90% of the things I want from a rib. I'm a happy osprey owner.

No, you're confusing the issue. The defending of Roy Bishop was regarding his fit out of an Osprey hull, not the Osprey products.

Cheap shot.

Have second thoughts?
