How much backlash

Have just finished installing my overhauled hyd. steering. Everything seems to work OK and have bled all the air out. I have about 1/8 of a turn of the wheel backlash at the helm. Is this normal????
Thanks T.

I'm not an expert in hydraulic steering, but I work with industrial hydraulics and sounds like you might have an airlock. With a brand new pump and rams there should be very little leakage so I would expect that that much backlash is caused by air in the system.

If you lock the engine does the steering feel spongy?
