France _ Lake Destinations or Sea

Was looking at Annency as a destination for next years summer holiday however, my wife is not relishing the thought of the journey from here in the Westcountry.
Does anyone have any closer suggestions for lakes or indeed a sea destination.
We will need to be able to hire accommodation.
Any suggestions gratefully received.

Normandy/Brittany is a short hop across the channel. The Baie de Seine, runs more or less from Barfleur (recommended) to Le Havre. Loads of boating opportunities, easy launches from pretty fishing ports. D-Day beaches, islands, good fishing, more good restaurants than you can shake a stick at. The west side of the Cherbourg peninsula offers miles of empty beaches, the Channel isles for a day trip, yet more good eating, the port of Dielette has good launching & a marina. If you want to go further down, then Morbihan is supposed to be excellent for boating, virtually an inland sea with hundreds of islands, I've never been so can't comment.

Morbihan is on the list of possibilities though I am struggling to find accommodation that I can keep my boat at or nearby moorings.

Destination picked by my family is Morbihan and the resort of Benodet.
Can anyone please advise me on launch sites as I have been looking for a couple of hours now to no avail and resources seem to be thin on the ground including a pretty non existent French tourist office.

Been to Benodet quite a few times, great place for a rib or inflatable as you can go from the sea to river all the way up to Quimper which is quite a few miles with lovely scenery, there is a campsite near Benodet called camping du letty which has own launch. we love it there. Have a look at there website it has arial video shots of the campsite and area

I have contacted them and they say they have no facility for boats ?

There is no parking for boat camping, only a place where you can put the trailers. The launching of the ship is on a dock near the campsite. Sincerely, The Letty

If you could shed some more light for me I would be grateful as that is the site the kids liked the look of.

I am struggling to find any info regards to launching in that area and it looks ideal.

There is a free launch and car park just east of the site , a lot of people tend to leave inflatable in the water of the letty directly by the campsite. The site is a beautiful site with a lovely pool, quite expensive to stay there but well worth it. We are going back next year

No I didn't take a boat with us as we are kayakers, but hoping to buy a boat next year.

I have trailered down to the Morhibian a few times and the best place we have found is called Port de Crouesty. It's on the peninsula which juts out to encircle the Golfe de Morhibian. This year we took a small room in the Pierre et Vacances site (holiday apartments) which is less than 2 minutes down to the marina which was perfect, and there is a good slip and trailer park all there.

We visited a number of places along the coast there, regardless of boat size there is a huge amount to see.

I do know that 'Trevor G' used to spend a lot of time in the area, at a place called La Turballe I think where I think there is a campsite very close to where you can moor the boat.

What size of boat are you taking, obviously trailer size etc makes a big difference

I've been to Benodet several times - unfortunately not with the boat - though i'd love to.

As other have said Benodet is a lovely little town, with great estuary and coast to explore. lots of good beaches and fishing

Two places to launch I know of:
1) the slip in Benodet itself - wide and accessible at pretty much any state of tide, although parking may be an issue.

Slip/ beach launch al Letty - there's a fee car park right by the beach. This is tidal.

There's also a marina at Benodet, so maybe keeping the boat a float might be an option an save on launch & recovery everyday.

Various campsites / parks around. Point St Giles has some pitches where there's enough room to park a boat & trailer, and a large car park just by the office/ reception.
